Day 2: God’s Displeasure with Half-Heartedness
Scripture: I know your works: you are neither cold nor hot… because you are lukewarm… I will spit you out of my mouth (Revelation 3:15-16).
Reflection:
Stop. Read that again. Out loud.
Jesus is speaking to a church — not pagans, not atheists, not the world. Christians. And He says: “You make me want to vomit.” That’s not hyperbole. That’s divine disgust.
Laodicea thought they were fine. Rich. Comfortable. Self-sufficient. But Jesus saw their hearts — lukewarm, apathetic, complacent. And He rejected them.
Isaiah 1:11-15: “I have had enough of burnt offerings… I do not delight in the blood of bulls… Your hands are full of blood… Cease to do evil!”
Amos 5:4: “Seek me and live!”
God doesn’t want your rituals. He doesn’t want your routines. He doesn’t want your religion.
He wants your heart on fire.
Have you sat in pews where people sing with dead eyes? Have you heard prayers that sound like grocery lists? Same prayers week after week with no growth. Have you seen Christians more excited about their sports teams than Jesus?
That grieves the heart of God.
Half-heartedness is spiritual adultery. It’s saying, “Jesus, You’re good — but not that good.”
Repent. Today. Now.
Today’s Challenge:
- Go to a mirror. Look yourself in the eyes.
- Say out loud: “Am I on fire for God, or am I lukewarm?”
- If the answer is lukewarm — fall on your knees and beg for revival.
Prayer:
Lord Jesus, I don’t want to be spit out. I don’t want to be a Laodicean. Set my heart ablaze. Make me hot for You. I repent of every half-hearted prayer, every distracted worship, every day I put You second. Forgive me. Fill me. Use me. In Your holy name, Amen.
