Day 189: Pursuing God Through Prayer
Scripture: Exodus 32:11-13

But Moses implored the Lord his God and said, ‘O Lord, why does your wrath burn hot against your people… Turn from your burning anger and relent from this disaster against your people.’

Are you standing in the gap for others through intervening prayer? Ezekiel 22:30 describes God seeking “a man among them who should build up the wall and stand in the breach before Me for the land,” calling for intercessors. 1 Timothy 2:1 urges, “First of all, then, I urge that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings be made for all people,” promoting prayer for others.

Reflection: When Israel sinned with the golden calf, Moses sought God through fervent intercession, pleading for mercy. Chasing after God includes standing in the gap for others, seeking His compassion. Moses’ bold prayer teaches us that diligently pursuing God involves interceding for those who stray, aligning our hearts with His redemptive love.

Today’s Challenge: Pray for someone who has wandered from faith today, asking for God’s mercy. Reach out to them with encouragement to strengthen your pursuit by praying for them.

Prayer: Merciful God, like Moses pleading for Israel, help me to earnestly pursue You by praying for others. Use my prayers to draw them to Your love. Give me the words to encourage them to repent for You. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
