Day 198: Seeking God’s Wisdom in Decision-Making
Scripture: Exodus 18:23-24

If you do this, God will direct you, you will be able to endure, and all this people also will go to their place in peace.’ So Moses listened to the voice of his father-in-law and did all that he had said.

Are you seeking God’s wisdom through wise counsel in your decisions? Proverbs 15:22 states, “Without counsel plans fail, but with many advisers they succeed,” valuing input. James 3:17 describes, “But the wisdom from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, open to reason,” guiding discernment.

Reflection: Moses sought God’s wisdom by heeding Jethro’s counsel to delegate leadership, showing humility in decision-making. Diligently seeking God involves seeking His guidance with discernment. Moses’ openness teaches us that earnestly pursuing God means trusting Him to speak through others to guide our choices. Do we seek and heed the advice of wise Christians? Do we ask wise and Scriptural church elders for advice in keeping God’s Word? Do we have anyone to whom we can turn when spiritual battles arise?

Today’s Challenge: Seek godly counsel for a decision you’re facing today (e.g., from an evangelist or church elder). Pray for discernment and act on one piece of advice to deepen your pursuit.

Prayer: Wise God, as Moses sought Your guidance through counsel, help me to diligently seek You by seeking Your wisdom in decisions. Direct my path, in Jesus’ name. Amen.
