Day 258: Seeking God’s Guidance in Uncertainty

Scripture: 1 Samuel 23:9-12

“David inquired of the LORD, ‘Will the men of Keilah deliver me and my men into the hand of Saul?’ And the LORD said, ‘They will deliver you.'”

Proverbs 3:5-6 tells us to trust the Lord rather than lean on our own understanding. James 1:5 promises wisdom to anyone who simply asks God for it.

Reflection:

David did not guess. He did not rely on his own read of the political situation. He asked, specifically, and God answered, specifically. Most believers pray vaguely for “guidance” and then make the decision based on their own instincts anyway. David’s example is sharper than that. He asked a direct question and waited for a direct answer before he moved.

Today’s Challenge:

Bring a specific uncertain decision to God in prayer today, ask a specific question, and wait before you act.

Prayer:

God, David inquired of You before he moved, and You answered him plainly. Speak clearly to me, and give me the patience to wait for it. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
