Day 3: Diligent Seekers – David
Scripture: O God, you are my God; earnestly I seek you; my soul thirsts for you… as in a dry and weary land where there is no water (Psalm 63:1).
Reflection:
David wasn’t called “a man after God’s own heart” because he was perfect. He was a murderer. An adulterer. A liar. But he was also a diligent seeker.
In the wilderness — hunted, hungry, hiding in caves — he wrote Psalm 63:1. His soul thirsted for God. Not safety. Not revenge. Not comfort. God.
Psalm 27:4: “One thing I have desired of the LORD, that will I seek: That I may dwell in the house of the LORD all the days of my life, to behold the beauty of the LORD…”
One thing.
Not ten things.
Not balance.
One thing.
David danced before the Lord with all his might (2 Samuel 6:14). He wept in repentance (Psalm 51). He praised in the storm. He pursued God with reckless abandon.
And God blessed him.
You want that kind of relationship? Stop settling. Stop the excuses.
Today’s Challenge:
- Write down your “one thing.” Is it God?
- If not — cross it out. Write: “To know God.”
- Pray Psalm 63:1-4 out loud, with tears if you really mean it.
Prayer:
O God, You are my God. I seek You early. My soul thirsts for You. Let me behold Your beauty. Let me dwell in Your presence. Make me a man/woman after Your own heart. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
