Day 43
Meet God in Secret
*“Go into your room and shut the door.”* (Matthew 6:6)
Reflection:
Daniel made a habit of praying three times a day in his upstairs room with windows open toward Jerusalem, even after the king’s decree made it punishable by death in the lions’ den (Daniel 6:10). Psalm 91:1 describes the reward: “Whoever dwells in the shelter of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty.” Where’s your go-to quiet spot—maybe a corner of your bedroom, a park bench at lunch, or your car before the commute?
Secret prayer isn’t about hiding from people; it’s about building intimacy with your Father who sees what no one else does. Daniel’s private devotion didn’t just sustain him through exile … it gave him the courage to face lions and the authority to rule an empire. Those unseen moments fueled his public boldness. When you shut the door and pour out your heart without an audience, God rewards you with rest and protection that carries into every visible battle. The world chases likes, number of followers, and applause; kingdom power grows in the closet. Your five minutes alone with Him could silence the threats roaring in your life. He’s waiting there, ready to meet you—step into the secret place today.
What public pressures keep you from private time with God?
Today’s Challenge: Find a quiet spot and spend five minutes with Matthew 6:6 and Psalm 91:1. Pour out whatever’s on your heart—no filters, no sharing it later. Daniel’s secret prayers shut lions’ mouths.
Prayer: Father in heaven, Daniel’s upstairs defiance shows me the power of secret seeking. Draw me into your shelter where no one else sees, and strengthen me with your shadow of protection. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
