Day 42
Seek God with Joy

*“Rejoice in the Lord always.”* (Philippians 4:4)

Reflection:
Miriam grabbed her tambourine and led the women in triumphant song and dance on the far side of the Red Sea, their feet still wet from the miracle as Pharaoh’s chariots sank behind them (Exodus 15:20-21). What a day, they should have never forgotten, but people have a way of forgetting God unless they are suffering or need something from Him. Psalm 16:11 promises that “in your presence there is fullness of joy,” and Nehemiah 8:10 declares, “The joy of the Lord is your strength.” What has muted your gratitude lately … lingering disappointment, daily grind, or comparison to other, more diligent Christians stealing your peace?

Joy isn’t something you wait for; it’s a deliberate choice to celebrate God’s rescue that becomes your secret weapon. Miriam didn’t sing because the danger was gone; she sang because God was greater than the enemy. That victory dance didn’t just mark freedom; it sealed it for the whole nation, turning slaves into worshipers. When you seek God with joy, even in the aftermath of your battles, it strengthens you for what’s ahead and testifies to everyone watching. The world conditions happiness on circumstances; kingdom joy flows from his unchanging goodness. Your next intentional celebration (whether through song, laughter, or grateful words) could flood your heart with the strength you need and draw others to Him. Let rejoicing become your pursuit today.

What deliverance in your life deserves a joy-filled celebration?

Today’s Challenge: List one specific rescue from God … remember a time He answered your prayer in an undeniable way. Reflect on Nehemiah 8:10 and let it shape your prayers—praise him out loud with movement, song, or writing. Miriam’s dance drowned out Pharaoh’s army.

Prayer: Joyful God, Miriam’s sea-soaked victory song calls me to celebrate Your power over my muted thanks. Fill me with strength-giving joy that overflows in every pursuit of You. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
