Welcome to the blog of Earnestly Pursuing God Ministries, where we dedicate ourselves to seeking the Lord with all our hearts, as Jeremiah 29:13 promises: “You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart.” In a world filled with endless opinions and divisions, it’s easy to feel overwhelmed. But today, I want to speak directly to your spirit about a truth that can bring clarity and peace. Let’s dive in with open hearts.
The Overwhelming Confusion in Modern Christianity
Have you ever felt lost in the sea of Christian teachings? One church emphasizes miracles and prosperity, another focuses on rituals and traditions, while yet another stresses social justice above all. Denominations argue over baptism, communion, and even the role of women in ministry. Social media amplifies voices claiming to have the “real” truth, often leading to more division than unity. It’s heartbreaking to see sincere believers stumbling in this noise, wondering which path leads to the genuine heart of God.
This confusion isn’t new; it’s as old as the early church, where Paul warned against false teachings in letters like Galatians. But here’s the loving truth: God doesn’t want us wandering in uncertainty. He has provided a clear guide and ignoring it can lead our best intentions astray. If we’re not careful, our pursuit of Him might become more about our preferences than His will.
The Unshakable Authority of Scripture
Amid all the voices, there’s one unchanging anchor: the Holy Scriptures. The Bible isn’t just a book of suggestions … it’s the inspired Word of God, breathed out by Him for teaching, rebuking, correcting, and training in righteousness (2 Timothy 3:16-17). When we elevate human opinions, traditions, or experiences above Scripture, we risk building on shifting sand.
Think about it: Jesus Himself constantly pointed back to the Scriptures. When tempted by Satan, He responded with “It is written” (Matthew 4:4). The apostles urged believers to test everything against God’s Word, as the Bereans did in Acts 17:11, searching the Scriptures daily to verify the truth. This isn’t about being rigid; it’s about humility … submitting our understanding to the authority God has given us. By doing so, we cut through the confusion like a sharp sword, discerning what aligns with His eternal truth.
Worshiping God on His Terms, Not Ours
True worship isn’t about what feels good or fits our culture; it’s about honoring God as He desires. Read that again, and let it sync in. True worship isn’t about what feels good or fits our culture; it’s about honoring God as He desires. Jesus told the Samaritan woman in John 4:24 that worshipers must worship “in spirit and in truth.” That truth comes from Scripture, revealing how God wants to be approached … with reverence, sincerity, and obedience.
Consider the story of Nadab and Abihu in Leviticus 10. They offered “unauthorized fire” before the Lord, and it cost them their lives. It wasn’t that their hearts were evil; it’s that they disregarded God’s specific instructions. Today, we might not face literal fire, but the principle remains: God cares deeply about how we worship Him. He won’t accept worship He hasn’t authorized by Scripture. Whether it’s through prayer, song, service, or daily living, aligning with Scripture ensures our devotion pleases Him, not just ourselves.
This is a convicting call to examine our practices lovingly. Are we adding or subtracting from God’s Word to make faith more “appealing”? Let’s return to the purity of Scripture, where true freedom and joy await.
Making Sure Your Efforts Aren’t in Vain
Imagine pouring your life into following God, only to realize at the end (on Judgment Day) that it was based on half-truths or human inventions. Jesus warned in Matthew 7:21-23 that not everyone who says “Lord, Lord” will enter the kingdom only those who do the will of the Father. That will is revealed in Scripture, not in fleeting trends or emotional highs.
But here’s the encouraging part: God rewards those who diligently seek Him (Hebrews 11:6). By committing to study, obey, and live out the Bible’s teachings, your efforts become fruitful. You’ll grow in wisdom, experience deeper intimacy with God, and avoid the pitfalls that ensnare so many. It’s not about perfection; it’s about persistence in truth. Start small: read a chapter daily, pray for understanding, and join a church that values Scripture above all.
