Day 251: Seeking God’s Wisdom in Leadership

Scripture: 1 Samuel 30:6-8

“David strengthened himself in the LORD his God. Then David said to Abiathar the priest, ‘Please bring the ephod here to me.’ So David inquired of the LORD, saying, ‘Shall I pursue this troop? Shall I overtake them?’ And He answered him, ‘Pursue, for you shall surely overtake them and without fail recover all.'”

David’s men were talking about stoning him. His city was burned. His family was captured. And instead of reacting, he inquired of the Lord first. Proverbs 16:9 says a man plans his way, but the Lord establishes his steps. James 3:17 describes wisdom from above as pure and peaceable, nothing like the panic surrounding David that day.

Reflection:

Leadership under pressure reveals what you actually trust. David could have led with fear, with vengeance, or with guesswork. He led by inquiry. He strengthened himself in God first, then asked before he acted. That order matters. Strength came before the question, not after the answer.

Today’s Challenge:

Before your next decision today, whether at home, work, or church, stop and ask God directly for direction before you act on it.

Prayer:

All-knowing God, David strengthened himself in You before he inquired. Let me do the same before I lead. Give me Your counsel over my instincts. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
