Day 90
Abide in God’s Love
“Remain in my love.” (John 15:9)
Reflection:
At the Last Supper, John positioned himself as the disciple whom Jesus loved, leaning back against his chest in intimate closeness that gave him unique insight into Christ’s heart and mission. 1 John 4:16 declares that “God is love. Whoever lives in love lives in God, and God in them,” while Psalm 36:7 marvels at “how priceless is your unfailing love.”
Are you actively abiding—resting and remaining—in God’s love, or do you find yourself striving to earn it through performance and achievement? Abiding in God’s love means making your permanent address the security of his affection rather than the instability of your feelings or circumstances—it’s vine-and-branch intimacy where fruit grows effortlessly from deep connection. John’s physical closeness to Jesus at that final meal didn’t just comfort him personally; it equipped him to write profound letters about love that continue strengthening believers today. When you remain in God’s love rather than running on religious duty, every area of life—relationships, decisions, challenges—flows from the assurance of being perfectly loved. While today’s generation performs for acceptance and chases conditional love, kingdom abiding simply receives and rests in the Father’s unchanging embrace. Reflect on God’s love for you today—let it become your true home where peace and fruitfulness abound.
Where in your life does striving replace simple abiding in God’s love?
Today’s Challenge: Spend 10 minutes reflecting on your love for God and how you can improve it. When you know why you love God, keeping His commandments is no longer burdensome. John’s abiding closeness produced eternal love-letters.
Prayer: Dear God, just as John rested close to your heart at the last supper, draw me into abiding intimacy where I remain in your unfailing love, bearing fruit effortlessly from the security of being perfectly loved, loving You, and fully known. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
