Day 177: Pursuing God’s Will Above Personal Gain
Scripture: Daniel 5:17

Then Daniel answered and said before the king, ‘Let your gifts be for yourself, and give your rewards to another. Nevertheless, I will read the writing to the king and make known to him the interpretation.’

Are you prioritizing God’s truth over worldly rewards? Matthew 6:33 instructs, “But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things will be added to you,” emphasizing kingdom priorities. Proverbs 11:18 states, “The wicked earns deceptive wages, but one who sows righteousness gets a sure reward,” contrasting earthly and eternal gains.

Reflection: When offered wealth and status to interpret the writing on the wall, Daniel prioritized God’s truth over personal gain. Earnestly seeking God means seeking His will above worldly rewards. Daniel’s refusal to be swayed shows that true pursuit of God focuses on His glory, not our own advancement, trusting Him to provide all we need.

Today’s Challenge: Identify a situation where you’re tempted by personal gain over God’s will (e.g., a job decision). Pray for discernment today and take one step to prioritize God’s purpose.

Prayer: Sovereign God, as Daniel sought Your will above rewards, help me seek You by valuing Your purpose over gain. Guide my choices for Your glory, in Jesus’ name. Amen.
