“On my bed I remember you through the watches of the night.” (Psalm 63:6)

David transformed his sleepless nights of exile—surrounded by enemies plotting his death—into sacred times of communion with God, meditating deeply on His faithfulness when human help seemed nowhere in sight. Psalm 119:148 describes how David kept “my eyes open through the watches of the night, that I may meditate on your promises,” while Lamentations 2:19 urges us to “pour out your heart like water before the Lord” in those quiet hours.
