Day 229
Seek God’s Comfort in Sorrow
“He heals the brokenhearted” (Psalm 147:3)
Reflection:
Hannah, barren and mocked, weeps bitterly at the temple, pouring her soul out to God in raw desperation (1 Samuel 1:10). Her tears weren’t wasted; they birthed Samuel, a prophet who shifted Israel’s course. 2 Corinthians 1:4 says God comforts us to comfort others, and Psalm 34:18 promises He’s near the crushed in spirit. Sorrow can isolate, tempting us to hide or numb the pain. But Hannah’s honest prayer found God’s comfort, turning grief to glory.
Think about a time God met you in sorrow—maybe a kind word or verse eased your heart. This month’s theme reminds us His healing mends. Is there a grief weighing you down? Like Hannah, pour it out—it could produce a blessing. Her sorrow didn’t just end; it shaped a nation. Your tears could find His healing too.
What sorrow needs brokenhearted healing?
Today’s Challenge: Write a raw prayer about one grief, echoing Psalm 147:3: “Heal my heart, Lord; bind my wounds.” Comfort a hurting friend with a call or note; like Hannah’s prayer that blessed Israel.
Prayer: Heart-Healing God, as Hannah’s tears turned to a prophet’s birth, mend my sorrow with Your tender comfort. Let my healing bless others. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
