Seek God’s Comfort in Trials

“The God of all comfort… comforts us” (2 Corinthians 1:3-4)

Reflection:
David, walking through the valley of the shadow of death, finds comfort in God’s rod and staff, even as enemies pursue him (Psalm 23:4). His psalms turned fear into trust, guiding generations through darkness. Psalm 34:18 says God is near the broken, and Matthew 11:28 invites us to find rest in Him. Trials can leave us raw—loss isolates, fear overwhelms. Yet, David’s reliance on God’s presence brought comfort that inspired faith.

Think about a time God’s comfort met you—maybe a proverb soothed a wound. This month’s theme of trusting God during trials calls us to seek His comfort. Is there a trial darkening your path? Like David, lean into God—it could bring rest. His comfort didn’t just soothe; it strengthened nations. Your trust could comfort others too.

What trial needs comfort to keep you out of the shadows?

Today’s Challenge: Pray Psalm 23:4 over one trial: “Your comfort holds me, Lord; I fear no evil.” Write a note of comfort to someone hurting—like David’s psalms that lift us still.

Prayer: Comforting Shepherd, as David’s valley found Your nearness, wrap my trials in Your tender embrace. Let my comfort overflow to others. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
