Day 3
Seeking God in the Quiet
“Be still, and know that I am God.” (Psalm 46:10)
Reflection:
Picture Elijah, slumped on a mountain, wind howling, an earthquake rumbling, fire blazing—but God’s not in the chaos (1 Kings 19:12). Then comes a gentle whisper, and Elijah’s heart snaps awake, hearing the voice he’d been craving. 1 Kings 19:12 calls it a “gentle whisper”; Psalm 23:2-3 says, “He leads me beside quiet waters, He refreshes my soul.”
Life’s a storm of notifications and deadlines, but God’s voice cuts through in the quiet (if you will listen), like a friend calling your name in a crowd. When did you last stop to listen? Elijah’s world was falling apart … prophets were dead, Jezebel was hunting him … but that whisper recharged his mission. Your stillness isn’t just a break; it’s a lifeline to His presence. Find a moment today—before the kids wake, before departing for work, or after the dishes are done—and sit with Him. That pause could shift your whole day, like Elijah’s quiet encounter sent him back to battle.
When’s the last time you carved out silence to hear Him?
Today’s Challenge: Prioritize five minutes today, maybe in your car or a dark room. Read Psalm 46:10 and Psalm 23:2-3 slowly, out loud. Ask God to speak in the stillness, like Elijah’s whisper. His quiet reset a prophet; it could reset you.
Prayer: God, Elijah’s mountain moment shows me I’m dodging Your voice in the noise. Pull me into stillness, let Your whisper refresh my soul, and guide me back to You. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
