Day 268: Seeking God’s Deliverance in Fear

Scripture: Psalm 56:3-4

Whenever I am afraid, I will trust in You. In God (I will praise His word), In God I have put my trust; I will not fear. What can flesh do to me?

David admits the fear before he claims the trust. He does not pretend to be fearless. He chooses to trust anyway. Isaiah 41:10 says fear not, for I am with you. Psalm 34:4 says God delivers from all our fears, not just the manageable ones.

Reflection: Fear and trust can occupy the same verse because they can occupy the same heart. The question is not whether you feel afraid. The question is what you do with that fear. David turned his straight into praise.

Today’s Challenge: When fear hits today, say Psalm 56:3-4 out loud. Then act courageously in one situation instead of shrinking back.

Prayer: Delivering God, David praised Your word in the middle of his fear. Overcome mine with Your strength the same way. In Jesus’ name, amen.
