Day 171: Seeking God’s Mercy for a Nation
Scripture: Daniel 9:16-17

O Lord, according to all your righteous acts, let your anger and your wrath turn away from your city Jerusalem… Now therefore, O our God, listen to the prayer of your servant and to his pleas for mercy…

Are you praying for God’s mercy on your nation or community? 2 Chronicles 7:14 promises, “If my people who are called by my name humble themselves, and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and heal their land,” calling for national intercession. Psalm 85:4 prays, “Restore us again, O God of our salvation, and put away your indignation toward us!” seeking collective mercy.

Reflection: Daniel’s passionate prayer for Jerusalem’s restoration shows that chasing after God includes seeking His mercy for others. His focused prayer for his nation reflects a heart aligned with God’s redemptive purposes. Pursuing God means lifting up our communities and nations, trusting His mercy to heal and restore.
