Day 216: Seeking God’s Purpose in Betrayal
Scripture: Genesis 37:18-20

They saw him from afar, and before he came near to them they conspired against him to kill him… ‘Come now, let us kill him and throw him into one of the pits… and we will see what will become of his dreams.’

Are you seeking God’s purpose when betrayed? 2 Corinthians 4:15-17 assures, “that God is preparing believers for an eternal weight of glory through light and momentary afflictions,” promising His purpose in trials. Psalm 55:22 encourages, “Cast your burden on the Lord, and he will sustain you,” offering support in pain.

Reflection: Joseph pursued God by seeking His purpose despite his brothers’ betrayal. Chasing after God means trusting His plan even when others harm us. Joseph’s steadfast faith in God’s vision, despite being sold into slavery, teaches us that diligently seeking God involves trusting His purpose through injustice, knowing He works all things for good.

Today’s Challenge: Reflect on a past betrayal. Pray for God’s perspective today and take one step (e.g., forgiving someone) to trust His purpose, deepening your pursuit.

Prayer: Faithful God, as Joseph sought Your purpose in betrayal, help me to earnestly pursue You through my hurts. Reveal Your plan and guide me, in Jesus’ name. Amen.
