Diligently Seeking God – Job (Days 116–140)

These entries focus on Job’s pursuit of God through trials, drawing lessons from his faith, integrity, and relationship with God, reflecting his steadfast trust amidst suffering and divine mystery. There is no Biblical character (apart from Jesus) who suffered worse than Job. We can take comfort when we suffer and learn a lot about how he responded which will equip us when trials come our way, especially those from the spiritual realm, which we can’t understand. Job is one of only three substantial characters whose sins against God are not listed.

Diligently Seeking God – Noah (Days 141–155)

These entries focus on Noah’s pursuit of God through obedience, trust, and perseverance, drawing lessons from his faith and legacy in following God’s guidance amidst a corrupt world. It must have been painfully difficult for Noah to preach to the lost in his day for possibly 120 years and have no one listen apart from his immediate family. Nevertheless, he kept his eyes on God. We can learn from Noah’s absolute resolve to obey and walk with our God.

Diligently Seeking God – Daniel (Days 156–185)

These entries focus on Daniel’s pursuit of God through faithful prayer, steadfast integrity, and trust in God’s sovereignty, drawing lessons from his unwavering devotion in exile and spiritual discipline. Daniel is the second of only three substantial Biblical characters who is listed with no record that he committed a sin against God. Of course he did, but it’s not recorded. We can learn a lot from Daniel’s steady and determined resolve.

Diligently Seeking God – Moses (Days 186–215)

These entries focus on Moses’ pursuit of God through leadership, intercession, and obedience, drawing lessons from his intimate fellowship with God and steadfast faith in the wilderness. Moses asked God to show him His glory. He was the meekest man on the earth, and he gave up the temporary pleasures of sin to follow God.

Diligently Seeking God – Joseph (Days 216–235)

These entries focus on Joseph’s pursuit of God through trials, faithfulness, and trust in God’s providence, drawing lessons from his resilience, purity, and commitment to God’s purpose in adversity. Joseph is the third of the three substantial Biblical characters whose sin against God is not recorded in Scripture. Of course, he sinned, but he was diligent for the Lord, and he understood God works all things together for our good.

Diligently Seeking God – David (Days 236–285)

These entries focus on David’s pursuit of God through worship, repentance, and trust, drawing lessons from his heartfelt devotion, resilience in adversity, and passion for God’s glory. David, described as “a man after God’s own heart” (1 Samuel 13:14; Acts 13:22), exemplified deep alignment with God’s will, unwavering faith despite flaws, and profound love for God. Several things stand out about David, but one of the most unique is that he had a heart considerate of God’s feelings. One example is when we see his desire to build a temple for the Ark (2 Samuel 7) and the second example is when we see his commitment to costly worship (2 Samuel 24:24). These examples reflect his selfless zeal and belief in sacrificial devotion. Apart from Jesus, David is my favorite Biblical character. Bear with me as I devoted an overwhelming number of daily entries to David so we can learn from his successes and failures in diligently seeking God.

Diligently Seeking God – Solomon (Days 286–295)

These entries focus on Solomon’s pursuit of God through wisdom, prayer, and dedication, drawing lessons from his desire for divine guidance, commitment to justice, and devotion to God’s glory in leadership and worship. Solomon had the heart to ask God for wisdom. However, he lost his faith in God (maybe for decades) when he took his eyes off Him and began focusing on his blessings and the world. He became a statistic to his wealth and blessings from God because he became comfortable instead of remaining humble with diligent resolve to please the Lord. Sleeping in the light (comfortable Christianity) is a problem for today’s generation; Solomon learned the hard way, let us not repeat his mistakes in our service to God in our generation.

Diligently Seeking God – The Prophets (Days 296–310)

These entries focus on the prophets’ pursuit of God through proclamation, repentance, and obedience, drawing lessons from their unwavering commitment to God’s truth, justice, and covenant amidst opposition and exile. The Holy Spirit gave the Prophets the words of God to warn generation after generation. Some of the greatest lessons for Christians today come from God’s warnings through the Prophets.

Diligently Seeking God – Apostle John (Days 311–320)

These entries focus on the Apostle John’s pursuit of God through intimacy with Christ, faithfulness, and sharing God’s love, truth, and glory, drawing lessons from his abiding devotion and worship. The Apostle John recorded some amazing insights and warnings by way of the Holy Spirit that encourage us to maintain hope in “walking in the light” and reaching for our ultimate goal. It’s so precious that the Holy Spirit noted John as “the disciple whom Jesus loved.”

Diligently Seeking God – Peter (Days 321–340)

These entries focus on Peter’s pursuit of God through his transformative journey from fisherman to a foundational leader, drawing lessons from his faith, failures, and bold proclamation of Christ. Peter fell short so many times, but he also demonstrated a tremendous faith by learning from his mistakes and doing better for Jesus. That resonates and gives us hope we can be pleasing to God in this generation.

Diligently Seeking God – Paul (Days 341–350)

These entries focus on Paul’s pursuit of God through his conversion, sacrificial ministry, and commitment to spreading the gospel, drawing lessons from his humility, endurance, and zeal. It’s significant that Jesus chose Paul as an apostle after He ascended, and Paul was diligent for the Lord in spreading the Gospel. We can learn from his example about the urgency to seek and save the lost and the emphasis he placed on worshipping God in the truth and spirit of the Scripture.

Diligently Seeking God – Faithful Women (Days 351–365)

These entries focus on the pursuit of God by faithful women of the Bible, drawing lessons from their courage, devotion, and trust in God’s promises through diverse roles and challenges. These women ran towards God and demonstrated tremendous faith by their works. I ended the year’s entry with a humble and unknown woman who teaches us to relentlessly seek and save the lost like Jesus did. Apart from glorifying God, is there anything more important than serving others (seeking and saving the lost in this generation)?
