Day 38
Ask God for Wisdom
*“If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God.”* (James 1:5)
Reflection:
Joshua and his leaders fell for the Gibeonite trick—moldy bread and worn-out sandals convinced them these “travelers” came from far away. But they made the fatal mistake of not asking God first (Joshua 9:14). Proverbs 2:6 says, “The Lord gives wisdom,” and Psalm 32:8 promises, “I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go.” Are you standing at a decision fork in the road right now?
Heaven’s wisdom prevents the kind of land-loss blunders that haunt you for generations. Why run on your own operating system when the Creator offers a free upgrade? James 1:5 doesn’t just promise wisdom—it comes generously, without finding fault or keeping score. Joshua’s solo decision cost Israel territory they never recovered; consulting God’s mouth first preserves your legacy. Your next gut hunch, filtered through prayer, becomes heaven’s strategy for your specific crossroads. Self-reliance sacrifices clarity; humble asking unlocks God’s precise direction. Don’t stumble forward blindly; ask boldly and act on what He shows you. Wisdom has been waiting for your invitation all along.
What decision are you facing without asking God first?
Today’s Challenge: Name your specific decision out loud. Pray James 1:5 and Proverbs 2:6, then sit silent for two minutes. Asking God first avoids so many failures.
Prayer: Omniscient God, Joshua’s bread-and-boots blunder warns me against solo navigation. Flood my decision-making with your generous wisdom—clear instruction that preserves my purpose. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
