Day 10: Don’t Confuse Blessings with Approval
Scripture: Truly God is good to Israel, to those who are pure in heart. But as for me, my feet had almost stumbled… (Psalm 73:1-2).
Reflection:
We are truly blessed with a comfortable life, so we must be right in God’s eyes, right?
Not so fast.
Having a comfortable life doesn’t mean God is giving you a thumbs-up. Asaph almost tripped up, envying the wicked’s prosperity, thinking it signaled favor. But the truth? Blessings aren’t always badges of approval.
Deuteronomy 8:10-14 warns us: “When you have eaten and are satisfied… be careful that you do not forget the LORD your God…” Prosperity can breed pride, leading us away from Him. Diligent pursuit means seeking God’s heart through prayer, not chasing His gifts or misreading them as endorsement.
Keep your eyes on serving Him, not on the blessings. Using what He gives to help others? That’s a sign your priorities are straight.
Ask yourself: Where are you misreading blessings? Is comfort making you complacent?
Because true favor comes to those with pure hearts, not full pockets.
Today’s Challenge:
- Make a list of your blessings and how you’ve used them for God.
- Cross out any pride or complacency.
Prayer:
God, keep my pursuit fixed on You, not the things You give. I repent of equating blessings with approval. Guide me to a pure heart. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
