Pray for Others Today

“Confess your trespasses to one another, and pray for one another… The effective, fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much.” (James 5:16)

Reflection:
Paul is in a Roman prison, yet his heart roams free, praying tirelessly for churches he planted, thanking God for their faith, praying for wisdom, seeking their effectiveness (Ephesians 1:15-16). 1 Timothy 2:1 urges, “Therefore I exhort first of all that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks be made for all men.” Philippians 1:4 reveals, “always in every prayer of mine making request for you all with joy.”

Do personal needs consume you, or do you build up others in prayer? Prayer joins heaven’s work, releasing wisdom, protection, and power where you can’t physically go. Paul’s prayers didn’t just comfort recipients; they strengthened churches under persecution, birthing letters still guiding us today. When you carry others to God’s throne, spirituality increases and unity multiplies. While this generation focuses on self-improvement, Christian prayer builds body-strength where one member’s breakthrough blesses all. That struggling friend, church leader, or nation? Become their prayer warrior; God moves through advocates.

Prayer gives us access to the Almighty Creator of the universe. Why don’t more Christians ask for prayers? Maybe pride; maybe fear of revealing struggles or feeling judged. Both excuses contain sinful elements. Don’t be ashamed to seek prayers from brethren, even if it’s uncomfortable. God sees your heart and faith, and as more people pray for you, perhaps, the more He will incline His ear to hear on your behalf (Psalm 34:17). Pray; ask others to join you. Set the example! Be frank: are you diligently interceding, or holding back? Resolve to lift others—no compromise—for that’s where heaven’s power breaks through.

Who specifically needs your faithful intercession at God’s throne?

Today’s Challenge: Select a person or group, pray specifically using Ephesians 1:16-19 (Paul’s prayer), adapt it for their situation. Paul’s prayers spread the church of Christ; your prayers could do the same.

Prayer: God, just as Paul’s prayers strengthened scattered churches through persecution, burden my heart for others’ breakthroughs, releasing Your power that builds Your people. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
