Day 250: Pursuing God’s Covenant Through Thanksgiving

Scripture: 2 Samuel 22:1-3

“Then David spoke to the LORD the words of this song, on the day when the LORD had delivered him from the hand of all his enemies and from the hand of Saul. And he said, ‘The LORD is my rock and my fortress and my deliverer, the God of my strength, in whom I will trust, my shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold and my refuge, my Savior, You save me from violence.'”

Psalm 107:1 calls us to give thanks because God is good and His mercy endures forever. 1 Thessalonians 5:18 does not qualify that command with exceptions. It says give thanks in everything.

Reflection:

David did not sing this song in the moment of crisis. He sang it after deliverance, on purpose, so the memory of God’s faithfulness would not evaporate the moment life got comfortable again. Most people forget their deliverances the day after they happen. David wrote his down and sang it. Gratitude that fades within a week is not covenant remembrance. It is convenience.

Today’s Challenge:

Recall a specific deliverance God has given you, name it out loud, and thank Him for it today.

Prayer:

Lord, You are my rock and deliverer just as You were David’s. Do not let me forget what You have already done for me. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
