Seeking God in the Ordinary

“And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus.” (Colossians 3:17)

Reflection:
Ruth’s bent over in a field, gleaning barley under a scorching sun, hands scratched from stalks (Ruth 2:12). It’s grunt work, but she does it for God, trusting His care. 1 Corinthians 10:31 says, “Whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God.” Romans 12:1 calls it “true and proper worship.”

Your daily grind—dishes, emails, errands—can be holy if you offer it to Him, like Ruth’s labor caught God’s eye. What’s one task you can give Him today? Do it with gratitude, and it’s worship. Meditate on God and His Word, and it’s worship. Her gleaning led to a legacy in Christ’s line; your ordinary could echo in eternity.

Today’s Challenge: Pick a routine job—cooking or working. Pray Colossians 3:17 and Romans 12:1 first, doing it for Him. Ruth’s fields became sacred; your tasks could too.

Prayer: God, Ruth’s humble work shows me every moment can glorify You. Turn my daily grind into worship, drawing me closer to Your heart. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
