Day 51
Surrender Your Will
*“Not my will, but Yours be done.”* (Luke 22:42)
Reflection:
Jesus sweat drops of blood in Gethsemane, asking if the cup could pass yet ultimately surrendering, “Not my will, but yours” (Luke 22:41-44). Romans 12:1 calls us to offer ourselves as “living sacrifices,” and Psalm 40:8 says, “I desire to do your will, my God.” Where are you still clinging to your own plans—a career path, relationship outcome, or personal dream?
Surrender isn’t defeat; it’s the doorway to God’s greater purpose and peace. Surrender allows God to direct your steps on your path of life. Jesus’ agony in the garden positioned the salvation of the world; Abraham’s release of Isaac unlocked covenant multiplication. When you hand over control, you exchange your limited vision for his perfect plan. Today’s generation celebrates self-determination; kingdom surrender trades anxiety for alignment. That decision with which you’re wrestling? Releasing it with open hands makes room for divine redirection you couldn’t orchestrate. Your “yes” to his will could launch eternal impact—trust that His way is better and step into it today.
What control are you unwilling to release?
Today’s Challenge: Name one area of control. Pray Luke 22:42 over it: “Not my will, but yours—for [specific].” Journal what peace follows. Jesus’ surrender saved humanity.
Prayer: Sovereign Father, like Jesus in the garden, I surrender my will to yours, trusting your plan brings life from death. Lead me where I cannot go alone. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
