Day 51: The Heart God Seeks – Humility
Scripture: The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit; a broken and contrite heart, O God, you will not despise (Psalm 51:17).
Reflection: Humility is a characteristic God demands from His people. When you become prideful and self-righteous, think about Jesus washing the feet of His apostles. How does that make you feel? What does His act do to your pride? It will humble you, if you are in sync with the Holy Spirit. If it doesn’t humble … it would be wise to check your heart and your motives.
What does God want from your heart? Psalm 51:17 says humility—a contrite spirit. Yes, Jesus washed feet (John 13:5), showing service over glory; He invites us to His gentle heart (Matthew 11:29). Pride trusts self, but humility leans on God (1 Samuel 16:7). Have you ever noticed how self-reliance creeps in, blocking His presence? Where’s pride holding you back? Serve someone quietly today—maybe a small act no one sees—and trust His grace draws you near. Seeking God starts with a heart broken for Him. Why hold onto pride when His favor waits? Humble yourself in the sight of the Lord, and He will lift you up (James 4:10).
Today’s Challenge: Pray for humility (and mean it).
Prayer: Father, break my pride. Shape my pursuit with humility like Jesus. In His name, Amen.
