Day 6
What Does It Mean to Seek God First?
“But seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.” (Matthew 6:33)
Reflection:
Daniel’s kneeling in his room, windows open, praying to God despite a death decree from the king (Daniel 6:10). Lions’ den or not, he puts God first, no compromise. Psalm 37:4 says, “Take delight in the Lord, and He will give you the desires of your heart.” Proverbs 3:6 adds, “In all your ways submit to Him, and He will make your paths straight.”
Seeking God first isn’t a warm-up act; it’s setting your whole day’s compass to Him, like Daniel’s prayers in exile. What’s crowding your mornings … phone, stress, or Him? Daniel’s defiance didn’t just save him; it showed a king God’s power. Your small choice to start with Him—maybe a prayer before coffee—could shift everything. Trust He’ll handle the rest, like Daniel’s faith shut lions’ mouths.
What’s grabbing your focus before God each day?
Today’s Challenge: Before your feet hit the floor, pray Matthew 6:33 and Proverbs 3:6 out loud: “God, You’re first today (help me put you first every day).” Dedicate one task to Him, like Daniel’s prayers defied a decree. His priority brought miracles; yours could too.
Prayer: Jesus, Daniel’s bold prayers call out my scattered starts. Help me put Your kingdom first, trusting You to guide my day. Make my paths straight. Build my faith. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
