Day 302: Elisha – Pursuing God’s Presence for Ministry

Scripture: 2 Kings 2:9-10

“Please let there be a double portion of Your spirit on me… You have asked a hard thing; yet, if you see me as I am being taken up, it shall be so for you.”

Elisha did not ask Elijah for comfort or an easy transition into ministry. He asked for a double portion of the spirit that had made Elijah who he was. He wanted the anointing, not the title.

Acts 1:8 promises power when the Holy Spirit comes. Luke 11:13 says the Father gives His Spirit to those who ask.

Too many of us want the role without wanting the empowerment that makes the role mean anything. Elisha wanted to be equipped, not just positioned.

Today’s Challenge: Pray for God’s power to fill a specific act of service today, teaching, serving, or telling someone about Christ. Then go do it.

Prayer: God, give me what Elisha asked for, real power for real work, not a title I have not earned. Empower me to seek and save the lost, in Jesus’ name. Amen.
