Day 299: Haggai – Pursuing God’s Glory Through Priorities

Scripture: Haggai 1:8

“Go up to the hills and bring wood and build the house, that I may take pleasure in it and that I may be glorified, says the Lord.”

Israel had time and resources to build paneled houses for themselves while God’s house sat in ruins. Haggai called that out directly. Their priorities were backwards, and their comfort was costing them God’s blessing.

Matthew 6:33 says seek first the kingdom of God. Psalm 115:1 prays that God alone gets the glory, not us.

We do the same thing Israel did. We finish our own projects first and tell ourselves we will get to God’s work when things settle down. They never settle down.

Today’s Challenge: Put one spiritual priority ahead of a personal one today, even if it costs you convenience.

Prayer: Glorious God, forgive me for building my own house before Yours. Let my priorities reflect what actually matters to You, in Jesus’ name. Amen.
