For A Brother in Christ

A dear brother in Christ reached out recently, walking through a heavy season and seeking encouragement and prayer. As we brought him before the Lord, the Holy Spirit immediately impressed this truth upon our hearts: Jehovah Jireh … the Lord will provide.

In the midst of trials, God reminded us of Abraham and Isaac on Mount Moriah.

Abraham had waited decades for the promised son. Now God tested him with a command that seemed to cost everything: “Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the region of Moriah. Sacrifice him there as a burnt offering” (Genesis 22:2). Abraham obeyed without delay. He rose early, prepared the journey, and set out with Isaac.

As father and son climbed the mountain, Isaac asked the piercing question: “Father… where is the lamb for the burnt offering?” Abraham’s reply carried unshakable faith:

“God himself will provide the lamb for the burnt offering, my son.” (Genesis 22:8)

Even at the point of greatest surrender, Abraham declared trust in God’s provision. At the very last moment (knife raised) God intervened and provided a ram caught in the thicket. Abraham named that place “The Lord Will Provide” (Genesis 22:14). And to this day it is said, “On the mountain of the Lord it will be provided.”

Lean into the LORD

Brother and sisters, whatever trial you are facing right now … whether in provision, relationships, health, or any other area … hear this: Your obedience is not in vain. God sees. God knows. God provides.

The mountain of testing can feel overwhelming. Obedience may seem to cost everything precious. Fear whispers that continued faithfulness will only lead to greater loss. But Abraham’s story declares the opposite. Provision came on the other side of radical obedience.

Jesus echoes this truth:
“Seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well” (Matthew 6:33).

“And my God will meet all your needs according to the riches of his glory in Christ Jesus” (Philippians 4:19).

Jehovah Jireh is the God who sees ahead. He meets us at the exact point of our greatest test and supplies what we cannot. Sometimes provision comes dramatically; other times through quiet strength, opened doors, or sustaining grace while we wait. But He provides.

Like David, who strengthened himself in the Lord his God amid devastating loss (1 Samuel 30:6), strengthen yourself today by fixing your eyes on the Provider. Recall His past faithfulness. Declare His name over your situation. Continue in wholehearted obedience, refusing to turn aside even when the cost feels high.

Reflection Questions for This Season

• Where is God calling me to deeper obedience while I wait on Him?
• Am I trusting Jehovah Jireh more than I fear the trial?
• How can I strengthen myself in the Lord today through His Word and prayer?

Dear brother and sister (and every reader walking through difficulty), do not grow weary in doing good. Do not let the pressure push you toward compromise. The God of Abraham is your God. He is Jehovah Jireh. He will provide.

Lord, right now we lift up our dear brother and every believer facing trials. You see every need. You test and You provide. Strengthen our faith to obey joyfully, to seek Your face first, and to trust Your perfect timing. Reveal Yourself as Jehovah Jireh in fresh ways. Supply what we lack according to Your riches in glory. Calm our hearts and renew our hope. In the mighty name of Jesus, Amen.

Keep earnestly pursuing God. Lean into Him relentlessly, yes, especially in the fire. He delights in your wholehearted trust and will show Himself strong on your behalf.
