Pray for God’s Glory

“To Him be glory forever!” (Romans 11:36)

Reflection:
Moses stands on Mount Sinai, longing for something deeper than miracles. He longs for the highest aspiration of our soul … to see God. He prays, “Show me Your glory” (Exodus 33:18). God responds with a glimpse of His majesty, and Moses’ face shines with divine light, pointing Israel to God’s holiness. Psalm 115:1 says, “Not to us, Lord… but to Your name be glory,” and John 17:4 records Jesus saying, “I have brought You glory.”

It’s easy to chase recognition for ourselves, but Moses sought God’s glory, wanting His greatness to shine through. Think about a moment you did something and gave God the credit—maybe a kind act or a success at work. That’s what praying for His glory does; it shifts the focus to Him. Is there an opportunity in your life right now where you could point others to God? Maybe it’s a conversation or a task you’re tackling. Praying for His glory aligns your heart with His purpose, making your life a reflection of His light. Moses’ prayer didn’t just change him; it drew a nation closer to God. Your prayer could make your actions a beacon for His name.

What could shine God’s glory instead of yours?

Today’s Challenge: Before a task, pray Exodus 33:18 and Psalm 115:1: “Lord, show Your glory in [this].” Pass credit to Him. Moses’ face glowed. Your life will too if your highest desire is to see His face.

Prayer: Holy God, Moses’ hunger for Your glory shames my self-focus. Let my life shine Your name, making every act Your spotlight. Give me a heart to seek Your face, Your glory. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
