Diligently Seeking God – Foundations of God’s Will and Character (Days 1–115)

These entries establish the core principles of pursuing God, focusing on diligence, warnings against complacency, and practical foundations like rewards, reverence, and daily application to cultivate wholehearted devotion to God by seeking to better understand His will and character. These topics are based on my life experiences earnestly pursuing God. These thoughts were taken from sermons I developed to encourage seekers to put God first with no compromise!

Day 1: Seeking God Diligently – The Call

Scripture: And without faith it is impossible to please him, for whoever would draw near to God must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who seek him (Hebrews 11:6).

Reflection:
You cannot please God without faith. Not partial faith. Not Sunday-morning faith. Not “I believe in God but live for myself” faith. Hebrews 11:6 is a divine ultimatum — believe He exists, and believe He rewards those who seek Him with everything.

Jeremiah 29:13 doesn’t mince words: “You will seek me and find me, when you seek me with all your heart.” Deuteronomy 4:29 doubles down: “But from there you will seek the LORD your God and you will find him, if you search after him with all your heart and with all your soul.”

This isn’t a suggestion. It’s a command. It’s a promise. It’s a warning.

I’ve been a Christian for decades, and I’ve seen it: people who treat God like an afterthought – giving Him leftovers if anything. They pray when they need something. They read the Bible occasionally. They worship when they feel like it. And they wonder why their relationship with God is dry, empty, and joyless.

That’s not the relationship God wants. That’s not the relationship Jesus died for.

Ezra didn’t play games. “For Ezra had set his heart to study the Law of the LORD, and to do it and to teach his statutes and rules in Israel” (Ezra 7:10). He purposed in his heart. He resolved. He reordered his life around God’s Word.

You must do the same.

Faith isn’t passive. It’s active pursuit. It’s daily surrender. It’s prayer before breakfast, Scripture before scrolling, obedience before entertainment.

God is not a cosmic vending machine. He’s not a genie. He’s YAHWEH — the holy, living, consuming fire who rewards those who diligently seek Him.

Ask yourself: what’s crowding God out of your life? Work? Kid’s activities? Netflix binges? Worry? Fear? Pride?

Write it down. Name it. Repent of it.

Because until you make God your first love, everything else will be out of order. And you will never experience the joy, peace, and presence He intends for you.

Today’s Challenge:

  1. Make a list of everything competing for your heart.
  2. Cross out anything that comes before God.

Prayer:
Father, awaken my dead faith. Ignite my cold heart. I believe You exist. I believe You reward those who seek You. Lord, I resolve today — You are first. No compromise. No excuses. I will seek You with all my heart, soul, mind, and strength. So here I am — all in. No turning back. Draw me near as I seek You. In the mighty name of Jesus, Amen.
