Day 300: Joel – Seeking God’s Mercy Through Repentance

Scripture: Joel 2:12-13

“Return to Me with all your heart, with fasting, with weeping, and with mourning; and rend your hearts and not your garments.”

Joel did not ask for a public display of grief. He asked for torn hearts, not torn clothes. God has never been interested in the performance of repentance. He wants the real thing.

1 John 1:9 promises forgiveness to those who confess. Psalm 51:17 says God will not despise a broken and contrite heart.

We are good at looking sorry. We are less good at actually being broken over sin. Joel’s call cuts through the performance straight to the heart.

Today’s Challenge: Spend time in genuine repentance today, not a rehearsed apology to God but an honest one.

Prayer: Merciful God, tear my heart, not just my words. Meet me in real repentance, in Jesus’ name. Amen.
